Magnetite was the first natural magnets used by man.
Discovered by the Greeks, the magnetite is a ferromagnetic mineral and was used to create the first compass.
The name comes from the ancient name Magnesia, region of Greek. Black, metallic luster, brittle and highly magnetic. Magnetite is the most magnetic loadstone of all the naturally occurring minerals on Earth.
Magnetite undergoes changes in its structures when temperature exceeds 550°C.
